Parry Sound: Old Baldy

This is not a public access trail. The easiest way to reach Old Baldy using crown land would be to park on Farley’s road and follow the snowmobile trail which would be a 10 km round trip. If you bushwack and cross Grassy Bay you could do this trip in 7.5 km.

I had measured out a 6 km round trip if I got permission to park at someones house on Dobson rd. I talked to this very nice old man at the end the road and he let me park at his place when I told him I was hiking to Old Baldy.

There was about knee deep snow the whole way. The bushwack was pretty smooth going. Only made a few wrong turns. Fell a few times in really deep snow and had some difficulty getting out. Along the way I spotted a cute little bunny.

The views at the top were absolutely gorgeous (see the photo at the top).

Stats:
7.4 km hike
173 m elevation gain
